Hi.

I know you probably hates this kind of topics because same do I.

I tried osCommerce, got lost, made a search, then I switched to CReloaded. It didnt have the language I was looking for, so this morning I installed ZenCart. I had lunch. I didnt like ZenCart anymore.

Now I've installed osCommerce RC2a again, this is my first e-commerce experience so I've decided to start from the father of all e-commerce cms. I'm not new to PHP/MySQL, I already made custom cms for other pourposes but not e-commerce related yet.

I'm helping a friend who owns a dress shop, and who wants to go into the internet-selling stuff.

I've read the sticky topic about "how do I"s and I didnt find any difficulties whatsoever doing what's described here, so my questions are:

- since this is "my" first e-shop, I dont want to go world-wide instalntly, rather I'm gonna stay in my country, Italy. How do I setup osCommerce to only operate let's say with EUROs and shipping only in Italy? I know that probably the product comes with a general configuration, so I'd like to make that configuration less general but more specific to Italy, what should I do? (I know it exists a version at www.opencommercio.com but I'd rather doing it myself to know exactly what has to be done)

- second, my friend is pretty skilled in using Photoshop, and it told me he'd like to do the graphics. I'm good at CSS/XHTML. What is, in your opinion, the fastest way to apply a new skin to default osCommerce? I looked into contributions, they are so many that I easily got lost in no time. I read about Simple Template System, maybe it could be a good idea?

I know this has been boring to read, thanks for any help.

If I understand you correctly you would need to go to admin panel & then to Localization and set your currency & Languages.

Thanks.

What about shipping? May I prevent users outside a country from ordering products?

Yes. You can use this contribution. Just make minor adjustment to the sql script.

http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/3353 <--Remove/delete countries easily

If you want to add the countries back, just run the selected "INSERT INTO countries VALUES ...."

sql script that came with oscommerce. It's in "oscommerce.sql".

In your Admin area, go to localization and remove all the oter countries other than Italy, and remove all the other currencies other than Euro.
