osCommerce

The e-commerce.

I am interested in using OS commerce for my website shopping cart system.

One of my biggest concerns is I need to offer real time fedex dimensional shipping

rates to my customers.

The products I sell are rather large but lightweight.. so fedex uses dimensional weight

when caculating the rate lxwxh..etc..

Each product sold has a seperate defined box dimension and actual weight.

Is there an add on module that will support realtime dimensional fedex shipping?

I read about the realtime fedex module, but I couldnt tell if it supported dimensional

shipping.

Thanks,

Mike

As far as I know it doesn't. The UPSXML contribution has a packing class that can support the dimensional shipping for any kind of shipping module. However, there is no FedEx XML shipping contribution. The FedEx developer information for that is incomplete as far as I can see unless they hide the real information for non-account holders so not easy to make too...

Why not just calculate the dimensional weight of the items and enter that as the weight of the product? I have the same issue with my store. Items that actually weigh 25lbs are charged shipping based on a dimensional weight of 70lbs, so I just have the product's weight listed as 70lbs in my catalog. Your FedEx representative should be able to assist you with the weight/charges, or if you use Ship Manager, you can get quotes from there by entering the package dimensions to determine what your catalog listed weights should be.
