Price break on shipping after certain quantity? Anyone?

Hello,

I would like to offer my customers a shipping option where they would get a discount if they order a certain number of products.

For example, shipping is $6.00 for the first item and $1.50 for subsequent items.

I know there is a contribution that does exactly this; however, I have not been able to make it work with a more current snapshot (it shows up fine on the admin side but is nowhere to be found on the catalog..btw, i'm using 11162002 CVS). What functions/attributes would be necessary to get this to work? If anyone could help me I would TRULY appreciate it
