MystiqueJewellery
I have recently registered domain with easyinternetsolutions.co.uk and I have to say I am a complete novice at web setup. I have the domain name and the template for my site, I have added some info. I need to intergrate a shopping facility as I am a jewellery designer and want to offer my clients the option to buy online. So I have added the script for osCommerce to the site, but now I am stuck. easyinternet say they cannot offer support, so how do I add my products to my chosen template with easayinternet.... I have read some posts here and they all seem jargon to me. I am no good with setting things up but am fine when they "software" is in place and I can populate with info etc. PLEASE HELP....any advice. FIMBLE
What is your web address? It will help to see visually how far along you are. Nic Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post My Contributions

MystiqueJewellery
Hi Nic, I have not uploaded yet. I went in this morning after spending all weekend adding tables with product pics and info and find that they have "lost" it. I saved EVERY step of the way. I have put in a help ticket to have them find it. At the moment it is a simple template with tables added into the pages, but I am sure this is wrong. I have read the download info and it says that I have to FTP the catalogue folder and files....how do I do that? So sorry, I sound like a 2nd grader! FIMBLE
Sorry to sound stupid, is it an OSC compatible Template? If so upload the site, as per instructions, then add the template as per instructions. Make sure you are happy with it before adding products, or if you do add products ensure you back up the database. ♥Vger
Well, I can see one major problem - the website you've created has nothing to do with osCommerce at all. Vger
MystiqueJewellery
So do you know how to add the buy it buttons, shopping cart and background stuff associated with osCommerce? Cause all it is at the moment is just pages of info, no shopping stuff..... I dont want to add to much more to the pages only to find I have to redo it in a new formt. Any advise you can offer is so appreciated. Thanks Lisa
MystiqueJewellery
Well, I can see one major problem - the website you've created has nothing to do with osCommerce at all. Vger Thanks, yes there is no shop stuff..... When I signed up with easyinternet, they informed me that I can add osc to my template to create the shop and I downloaded the script from their site but they cannot tell me anything on how to intergrate the web template I have created with the shopping facilities with osc.....so I am totally lost! burt
Ok, the host has nothing to do with it - all they do is give you "space" on the internet so that you can have a website. So forget bothering them. What you need to do is... 1. INSTALL osCommerce. 2. ADD any contributions that you want to make your (and your customers) life easier. 3. AMEND the look of your osCommerce to match your existing site. As a complete "new" person to osCommerce, you are going to struggle as it is a steep learning curve. But we were all where you are now, once. So, 1st things 1st. Install osCommerce (I'd suggest that you install it in a subfolder) so that you can play with it to make sure that it is right for you. FIMBLE
Must admit i only took a very quick look and thought that it was your template!! Installing OSC is not hard, follow the quick install link pinned to the top of the page or follow the documentation that comes with OSC. Like Burt said its a steep learning curve .... but well worth it Sometimes you're the dog and sometimes the lamp post My Contributions
