girl Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Hi, I hope someone can help. When you download a file after purchase in firefox you get the pop-up with the name of the particular download file. But when I download the same file in Explorer it just gives me "download" and the generice name "download". So the file when saved is called download. If I try to alter this file to something else it aborts the download process. This is rather troublesome as customers will buy more than one download at a time and hence they might be overwriting the files they have bought if they use explorer and all the files are coming out as download. Can anyone help me solve this problem. Thanks.
photofxplus Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Just a shot in the dark, but are you downloading by redirect? What is the url of your website.. Lloyd
girl Posted April 15, 2008 Author Posted April 15, 2008 Yes, I think I am. you pay with paypal and then you are sent to the page with the downloads. this page is also ssl. but as I said in firefox it works fine (unfortunately most my customers use explorer) I should add that in another section where you are not being redirected (the freebee section) the download window shows the name in both explorer and firefox. my url is www.clipartandscrap.com/store - this is store is also live.
photofxplus Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Download by redirect means that your downloads are at another URL - not your website. If all downloads - pay and freebies - are on your website and in your 'store' folder and you only get the issue when you do not go thru PayPal, then I would guess it has to do with PayPal. Lloyd

But the freebees are outside the OSC shop, and the paid for downloads are within the OSc shop. I don't think it is a pay pal issue for when I run a check on an upload to make sure it will download, I use the credit card payment method and have this problem.
girl Posted April 18, 2008 Author Posted April 18, 2008 I found the problem. I had my files in a folder in the download folder (eg catalog/store/download/folder/filetodownload.zip and explorer did not like that and also kept corrupting the files during download. I have moved them all to just the download fold and explorer appears to be downloading them as it should.
