osCommerce

The e-commerce.

Signup does not contain state/province

Hello,

I've just recently upgraded to a new osCommerce store from an older version. I built the new store first then imported the old database. Actually my hosting company did the database import for me. My problem is that the old customer addresses all contain the state or province in the address but the new version is not requesting this in the signup (registration fields) nor in the address books.

This has caused me some difficulty with customers not being charged provincial sales tax in my province (which is required). Only new registrations are not being charged and I'm sure it's because they don't have a place to enter their province in the signup.

Anyone know what to do about this? I can't find anything in the admin panel that deals with this function. I do have max/mins set to state having a value of 2.

Please someone give me a hint.

thanks

you can enable the state or province in oscommerce admin panel.

Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here!

8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself.

Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues.

Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.

Thank you for your quick reply.

Exactly where is this activation since I obviously have missed it in my hours of looking.

you can find it at osc admin panel --> Configuration --> Customer Details --> State (click on State & after on edit button to change to true)

Hi again,

Thank you for your help so far.

I wrote to my hosting company and they told me that the loss of the 'customer details' and state/province line missing is an upgrade issue and they said they can't resolve it.

Do you know what I can do to fix this mess? Without having state/province available is makes my store crippled in that I don't have a complete shipping address and Ontario residents won't be charged the mandatory sales tax.

They tried to fix it and get 'customer details' working but couldn't restore my old database without overwriting what they fixed.

Any suggestions?

Thank you.
