Quirky 404 error on product.php pages- advice please

Hi,

Need advice with a 404 page not found error I'm getting when attempting to view product from the index.php page from my "not yet live store". When hitting a view product link from the featured products page, I'm getting a 404 error page.. and the long oscid url. If I go back and hit refresh, the page works fine with correct product.php product url - I have Ultimate_Seo_Urls Version 21d installed. I believe I read before installing Ultimate Seo that the oscid url only appears intially and subsequent views of the page will show the correct SEO url. Is this correct?

 

If I hit a category link, then go to a product page, everything works fine. If I check my error logs it tells me the file does not exist. Does this appear to be a htaccess path issue, a oscids problem or do I need to look elsewhere? I've searched the forums - it looks like most fixes are for a consistant 404 page problem. Thanks for any advice!
