I have (at last!) had osCOmmerce load on my host server, but it tells me in "administration tool:"

Warning: session_save_path() [function.session-save-path]: SAFE MODE Restriction in effect. The script whose uid is 411475 is not allowed to access /tmp owned by uid 0 in /customers/wordofmouthbcn.com/wordofmouthbcn.com/httpd.www/catalog/admin/includes/functions/sessions.php on line 165

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at /customers/wordofmouthbcn.com/wordofmouthbcn.com/httpd.www/catalog/admin/includes/functions/sessions.php:165) in /customers/wordofmouthbcn.com/wordofmouthbcn.com/httpd.www/catalog/admin/includes/functions/sessions.php on line 102

Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers already sent (output started at /customers/wordofmouthbcn.com/wordofmouthbcn.com/httpd.www/catalog/admin/includes/functions/sessions.php:165) in /customers/wordofmouthbcn.com/wordofmouthbcn.com/httpd.www/catalog/admin/includes/functions/sessions.php on line 102

Warning: Cannot modify header information - headers already sent by (output started at /customers/wordofmouthbcn.com/wordofmouthbcn.com/httpd.www/catalog/admin/includes/functions/sessions.php:165) in /customers/wordofmouthbcn.com/wordofmouthbcn.com/httpd.www/catalog/admin/includes/functions/general.php on line 22

and in the Catalog segment, where I went to next to see if there were any solutions to this, I found:

Warning Warning: Installation directory exists at: /customers/wordofmouthbcn.com/wordofmouthbcn.com/httpd.www/catalog/install. Please remove this directory for security reasons.

Warning Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /customers/wordofmouthbcn.com/wordofmouthbcn.com/httpd.www/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.

My question is this, Do I move over to the PHP administrator and simply remove those lines in their entirety? I am sorry, I am not very experienced with this stuff and I am desperate not to make any mistakes!

Cheers,

I have removed and reloaded the entire thing and I a still having the same problem. The documentation tells me I should change parameters here and there, but I do not see those options presented to me. In fact there seem to be many options that do not present themselves. Does anybody know anything about these?

A google search yields this page.

Okay, looking at a borrowed copy of "Building Online Shops with osCommerce Professional," I found good information on how to take care of the problem with the "Install" problem in the "catalog section. They said I could delete it and I did.

The problem:

Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /customers/wordofmouthbcn.com/wordofmouthbcn.com/httpd.www/catalog/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.

Is also mentioned but the book says I should change it to a read only file. I am afraid that the properties segment on the file does not offer this option.

I have put it on an empty web site to practice with and I am accessing it through the host's file manager. I am not certain if there is another way of doing this within that service or if I have an alternate way of accomplishing the same thing.

Does anybody know about this problem?

Now I feel like a proper idiot!

I spent most of the weekend going through the back catalogue of postings and never saw this.

I shall be getting on to these right away and shall keep a mark of this to pass on to others when the need arises.

Cheers and thanks,
