linusk Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 I've installed a clean CVS version dec 18 Add hardware -> graphics card -> Matrox G200 MMs (select 8Mb option) Now, viewing the cart, looks ok, I update the quantity to 2 The cart now shows me 1 Matrox G200 MMS 2 Matrox G400 32MB Can someone help to see if they get the same thing? PHP 4.2.3 MYSQL 3.23.53a
mugitty Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 Can't help with a 12/18 snapshot, but on one from 12/15, everything appears as it should (value model option, 8mb option selected) ... if you want to REALLY see something that doesn't set up right out of the box without some tweaking, try being a Foster Parent!
linusk Posted December 19, 2002 Author Posted December 19, 2002 So, did you try to update the quantity to "2" ? Can you tell me wat version of php and mysql are you using?
mugitty Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 Yes, updated quantity to 2 as well as continuing through the checkout process to the end. All appeared exactly as I would expect it to. PHP 4.2.3 MySQL 3.23.54 ... if you want to REALLY see something that doesn't set up right out of the box without some tweaking, try being a Foster Parent!
Guest Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 Do you happen to have a link that we can check out?

linusk Posted December 20, 2002 Author Posted December 20, 2002 http://www.momomaternity.com/catalog/debug_phpinfo.php Here's my PHP info. Sorry for multi posting, I can't edit my post.
Guest Posted December 20, 2002 Posted December 20, 2002 Wow, I didn't expect this, but it looks like there is a problem. You have not changed anything? I have a Nov 15th cut on my site and it does not do this. I think we need to move this from General Chat to Installation.
linusk Posted December 20, 2002 Author Posted December 20, 2002 I run the same setup in another server and it works fine. The other server is running one an older version of PHP. PHP4.1.0. The one that fails is running on PHP4.2.3 . I've heard of a bug in PHP4.2.3 when "mbstring" is enabled. And mine certainly has got it enabled. I'm now trying to find out if anyone has got PHP4.2.3 installled with "mbstring" try to see if they have the same problem. I'm still negotiating with my web host to let me try out (get mbstring disabled), but since it is a shared hosting, I don't think the chance is high.
Guest Posted December 20, 2002 Posted December 20, 2002 Linusk, I've heard of some incompatibilities with PHP 4.2.3, but never had cause to dig that much (because it didn't affect me -- not on that version). I posted this in the installation and configuration. I think it needs to come to the attention of the development team, but it doesn't seem to be attracting that kind of attention. The new post is at this address: http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/viewtopic.php...p?p=90992#90992 Good luck! I hope someone knows how PHP4.2.3 is affecting the code.
dreamscape Posted December 20, 2002 Posted December 20, 2002 I tested you site and something is indeed very wrong... I also run PHP v4.2.3 on my server and tested a stock OSC install and did not get this problem but the mbstring thing isn't enabled on my PHP configuration... linusk Posted December 20, 2002 Author Posted December 20, 2002 Hi guys, Thanks for all your help and testing. I am now pushing my web host to disable mbstring for PHP4.2.3 Reading this bug : http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=19460 And going through shopping_cart.php I am pretty convinced that it is the problem. When I managed to get it solve, I'll post again, for the benefit of others that might enocunter this problem. Happy Holidays Linus Kerk
linusk Posted December 25, 2002 Author Posted December 25, 2002 Hi everyone, I've finnalt managed to get my web hosting guys to re-compile PHP4.2.3 with MBSTRING turned off. Now my oscommerce works perfectly... Thanks to everyone who have helped me out... Cheers...
Guest Posted February 10, 2003 Posted February 10, 2003 I ran into a bug report that said that the "mbstring" function in 4.2.3 was causing the error. Up until yesterday, we were running 4.2.3 and had the exact same problem. We upgraded to 4.3.0 and the problem went away. I'm not sure what other problems we have opened ourselves up to with 4.3.0.....but at least this one is behind us. I forgot to bookmark the bug report that contained the info. Sorry. Cheers, Mike
