catalano Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 Hello All, I'm having a problem with downloadable products on our site. The problem is apparently only on Mac. When the customer purchases a downloadable product and then clicks on the download link, on the Mac the file is saved as an .html file (example song1.zip.html) The files on the server are definately .zip files. Doing the same process on a Windows machine retrieves a proper .zip file. Any idea why the Mac is turning the .zip files into .html files? We have a previously installed oscommerce site that is working fine. The version of the other store is 2.2-MS2, whereas this one is 2.2 RCa. Not sure if that makes a difference. As far as I can see both of the sites were set up the same way. Any suggestions on what might be wrong? Thanks, Chris
catalano Posted April 9, 2008 Author Posted April 9, 2008 Just wanted to add some more info: I can successfully transfer the file via an ftp program and am able to unzip the file without any problems. The problem with the download via osc being converted into an .html document is with Safari. Using FF on the Mac I am able to dl the file as a .zip, however Stuffit gives an error message when trying to unzip. It says that it is not a zipped file. So something is definately happening at the point of download. Other info: server is unix based, download by redirect is on, all zip files are less than 5mb. thanks, chris
catalano Posted April 9, 2008 Author Posted April 9, 2008 Ok, turning off download by redirect fixes the problem. I don't understand why. This feature is turned on in the other osc installations we have. Doesn't turning it off make the downloads less secure???
