Need to add custom attribs to products

I have the need to add custom attribues to my products and also to my customers. I later on want to pick up the attribs and use them in my cart total calculations. What I'm specifically talking about here are....

 

* A per product discount value.

* A per customer group i.e. Reseller, Student, College (this would only be assignable by me, but ideally visible to both me and the cutomer).

 

Later in the checkout process I want to then pickup these attribues and use them to do a pretty complex set of discounting operations.

 

So, first things first. Does anyone know of a contribution that does this, or something very similar. Or if not, can give some pointers as to which modules would need updating?
