pedgette Posted April 8, 2008 Posted April 8, 2008 I've spent a considerable a mount of time modifying an RC2 shop for a customer/friend of mine with a lot of contributions and some of my own hand written code to tie a lot of it together. Now say that I'm expecting payment to be received monthly after the time of the site launch. If I never receive any payments, can I take my work back? I have full control of the website and it's hosted on a hosting site under an account which I own in case that needs to be noted.
Guest Posted April 9, 2008 Posted April 9, 2008 That depends on what your contract with your customer says.
pedgette Posted April 10, 2008 Author Posted April 10, 2008 The contract only lays out the terms of the payment, which are to be paid at end of the month.
Guest Posted April 11, 2008 Posted April 11, 2008 Legally, one is only obligated to what's in a binding contract. There are issues with verbal contracts, but those are typically more difficult to deal with. A good business approach is to give your customer an accurate expectation of what's going to happen if they don't pay by a certain time. Best to be completely up front with them, so that there are no surprises. -jared
