pcwarehouse
Hallo, I have just completed the installation of my first OSC store. After, some initial problems with the many missing modules, we have added some extra stuff, like showing the stock - available in green - and out of stock in red. Also added some graphics to the site. I am not finished yet, as there are still issues with removing the english language file, so I left it there but am not bothered to translate the products. The site address is Our Website
Guest
Live stores discussed in this channel must be powered by osCommerce Online Merchant and have the "Powered by osCommerce" text displayed on the site.
pcwarehouse
I double checked it now. The Powered by appears in the german version of the website, as we don't use the english one at all. so I did not really modify the english version. Guest
Hi Markus, <said with a smirk>Well, When I tried the site it came up in English and I don't read the German one at all.</said with a smirk> I hope you take that as good humor. I was playing around, checking out a few of the products - flipping between the languages on each. I guess the English side is really only for the convenience of English labels. Although I don't read German, there is enough English that I could, say, pick-out and purchase the correct monitor for my needs. This is a very common comment regarding new stores: Why do you need my gender and d.o.b. to create an account? (If it is for birthdays then make it optional ). I think others would agree that it feels like an unnecessary privacy intrusion. I am signing up for an account (d.o.b. 05/21/1970). NO SSL On my account sign in page I set my country to be the default. I think it is a nice touch (when your primary market is your own countries). I am not sure how people from other countries view a default like that. (I only have a problem with dropdowns that have 1 country) Just a thought. When I hit submit I got this: Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at /home/pcware/public_html/includes/languages/english.php:331) in /home/pcware/public_html/includes/functions/sessions.php on line 97 I hit refresh and resent the data and got the email already used warning. Okay, I hit login and that page came up. Entered the email and password I signed up with and got this:Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at /home/pcware/public_html/includes/languages/english.php:331) in /home/pcware/public_html/includes/functions/sessions.php on line 97 I ain't done yet. I reentered your site and switched to German and proceeded to login and got this"Warning: session_start() [function.session-start]: Cannot send session cookie - headers already sent by (output started at /home/pcware/public_html/includes/languages/german.php:333) in /home/pcware/public_html/includes/functions/sessions.php on line 97 Don't quote me, don't quote me, don't quote me but I swear that this sounds just like an extra carriage return in a file. Your images are all quite small, excellent for fast loading. On page http://pc-warehouse.at/product_info.php?cP...products_id=125 I clicked for an enlarged picture. i got a 150x150 popup for a 237x266 image. I think too big would be better than too small. I vaguely remember reading about a contribution which will size the popups. Help, if anyone out there knows of one. (Most of my images are so low quality I don't dare show big images.) Cruising around your site is pretty easy and fast. Privacy Notice isn't filled in yet. (like you really don't know that) :D Personally I don't like those animated people popping up and following me around. I had the sound off so happily I never heard them. I will readily admit (or praise) that these were probably the best functioning ani-bots to annoy me. (couldn't resist - sorry) I saw a very life-like performance with fluid motion. for quality. You are in a highly competitive market. I would recommend header_tags, Ultimate SEO and to expand upon your text where ever you can. Adding relevant verbiage to categories and products only helps your site with the search engines. I know that it is hard sometimes to think about what one could add. Think about selling to a customer in a store, if they told you what they where looking for, would you simply show it to them and shut up or would you gab about this and that regarding the product? Selling to your customers sells you to the search engines (but selling to the search engines sells to noone). I pretty much like the looks of your store except that to me the background color just don't seem to match Your paypal, credit card, and safety(?) logos link nowhere: index.php#
pcwarehouse
thanks for pointing this out. We have had those issues ever since our hosting provider made updates to the server. I am still trying to fix all that. There is a installed SSL Certificate from Rapid SSL. Yeah I will fix the translations within time, but it just takes a while. Most important were the german language files. I am required by law to take DOB in order to comply with the regulations. So I have to have them.
