ukracer Posted December 18, 2002 Posted December 18, 2002 Hi I have installed OS Com several times now on two different servers but I am getting problems on another one. I wonder if the database actions are different? Ist do I ned to create datbase BEFORE I run the install scripts or not. AS it is I have always created them before and have had no problems will now. This is the error I get can any one help! I have serached the base before posting but as my key words get 3167 replies it could take some time going through them :) Warning: Access denied for user: 'dcracing_dcracin @localhost' (Using password: YES) in /home/dcracing/public_html/catalog/includes/functions/database.php on line 19 Warning: MySQL Connection Failed: Access denied for user: 'dcracing_dcracin @localhost' (Using password: YES) in /home/dcracing/public_html/catalog/includes/functions/database.php on line 19 Unable to connect to database server! thanks in advance
JHouse Posted December 19, 2002 Posted December 19, 2002 1. Is your database set up? If so, have you added your username and password? 2. Try substituting your web address for localhost in the DB_SERVER field located on your configure.php page. Make sure you don't add the http:// stuff, just the domain. For example: yourdomain.com. If that does't work, contact your host and request the Database Server (DB_SERVER) address. Sometimes it's on another server, so localhost won't work (I think). Good luck. JHouse
ukracer Posted December 19, 2002 Author Posted December 19, 2002 1. Is your database set up? If so, have you added your username and password? Yea and yes! 2. Try substituting your web address for localhost in the DB_SERVER field located on your configure.php page. Ok will do! Make sure you don't add the http:// stuff, just the domain. For example: yourdomain.com. If that does't work, contact your host and request the Database Server (DB_SERVER) address. I am the host :) I got a reseller account just to set up this project so I would have total; control and instead I get problems :) Sometimes it's on another server, so localhost won't work (I think). I will ask tech support anyway just in case but I think its on the same server because local host worked and the database was populated on install by oscommerce script. Its later when I select admin or catalog buttons that I get those errors..... :) thanks for the advice though! Good luck.

Ciao. The configure file is that from the release 2.2 and has not been altered. As I said elsewhere the data base has been populated using my names so I am assuming I have got them right! OR does the installation process take those names and place them into a file while .........well not if it populates the database it must know it exists and uses the right password must it not?? GGrrr I hate computers now!
