Downloadable products

I have a fresh OSC v2.2 RC2 installed.

 

I've done some minor configuration, but not added and contributions.

 

I have added about 20 photos that I want to be downloadable after purchase (PayPal eventually).

 

Using OSC seems a really difficult way of doing this, as you've got to add the product, then use the attributes for the download. I've set it all up, but some products (testing as purchaser) show the link to the product in the order page (once updated to 'delivered' status) but others don't. I cant seem to see what it is that makes some work and others not.

 

Is there an easier way to get people to buy online AND have them download the product afterwards??

 

Also, OSC is not sending any emails to the customer, on either registration or ordering, yet the contact us page works fine, and the duplicate order to the admin email address works as well ... ??
