Guest Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Hiya. I am wanting to set up a new store, and i would like something similar to http://www.consolesandgadgets.co.uk/catalog/ Anyone know what template they have used? Or how i can achieve one similar to this one? Thanks Andy
Guest Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 It is just standard osC with color changes and minor modifications. It is not a template.

burt Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Very easy to do - I suggest that an experienced osC person could make this style of site within an hour or two; For you, here's my suggestions; 1. Open up each osCommerce file and give each file a few more stylesheet classes (one for the header, one for footer, one for each of the three columns). 2. Play with the stylesheet settings for these new columns to match the scheme of this site. You might want to make is different so that you are not accused of copying ;) 3. Find the contributions that create the better looking boxes - or code them yourself - not too difficult once you get into it. For a beginner, I suspect that one day of solid osCommerce "play", and then another day of code would see a site like this without too many problems. There are a couple of up-to-date "how to design oscommerce" tutorials out there - might cut down your learning time, and stop you banging your head on the keyboard quite so many times.

I wish i was as positive as this member. I've spent more than two week reading tips and tutorials and going thru code after code and there is no way that I could ever create a site like this as a beginner. Best Wishes. RCHP

burt Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 Why would anyone not want to learn more about osCommerce and try to make a design - by at least getting to grips with a design, you won't have to come running every time your store breaks.
Guest Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 Hi, Frankly speaking, osCommerce is not so difficult to learn. Once you understand some of the codes, this is very fun to make your own templates. Best regards
zhexiang Posted April 13, 2008 Posted April 13, 2008 All you have to do is editing the stylesheet.css so that you have different layout and colours. Edit header.php & footer.php in include folder to put up your own logo

Best regards Yes I used oscommerce in 3 or 4 projects. Now I like it. And also share my experience with others.. When I was born, I was cryed and everyone around me was smiling. Live our life so at the end, I am the one who is smiling and everyone around me is crying.
