URGENT: Looking for help moving website

Aqua121

Recommended Posts

:onfire:

I'm urgently looking for someone helping me out with a project.

A website needs to be moved from a Verio server, including php and db.

You have to be familiar with Linux server config, php, db, after moving all have to be checked, debugged.

You have to have a professional attitude, and time to complete this job starting even today.

Please, PM me or send an email so I can give you more details.

thanx

Cheers,

Susan

Hehe, I see open source thinking hasnt reached you yet...

I havent seen an add like that since I last visited the Job Centre.

If you want to ask a question, then ask one.

But there is no point trying to be commercial in your post, as for one, people here will help you for free if you just ask, and two commercialism is not looked on from happily here.

Ironic for a commercial piece of software, I agree, but non the less not wanted.

So...

Do you want assistance in how to do this or have you GOT TO have someone to work for you?

CC.

I think this post is absolutely relevant. The user obviously does not have the time to become a rogue linux admin and wants a site up NOW. What better place to solicit help than from a pool of avid, if not rabid users :)

You either didnt read completely or you just didnt understand.

At which point did I mention it wasnt valid??

This:

You have to be familiar with Linux server config, php, db, after moving all have to be checked, debugged.

You have to have a professional attitude, and time to complete this job starting even today.

Is obvious job touting.

It doesnt matter which way you dress it up, that is clear commercial advertising.

How many other posts do you see on here that say you HAVE to be familiar with certain aspects of the I.T. world in order to offer your FREE advice??

I'll tell you, None!

That is becos no one cares whether you are the master of all knowledge or not, as long as you know the answer, anyone can offer help.

Stating that you have to be familiar with a certain OS config, certain coding and database does not imply that you are seeking aid in your targets does it now?

Now that is clear, back to my original post.

Do you want assistance in how to do this or have you GOT TO have someone to work for you?

You're obviously confused here CC. This is in NO way "commercial advertising". How on earth do you figure it is? She's looking for HELP - as in looking to BUY (or maybe looking for a freebie - it wasn't clear in the original post), not SELL. Advertising is when you're selling something. Get it?

Chill out for a second. Your posts have been somewhat hostile lately don't you think?

Hostile!!

Wait till I get going buddy.

Dont be so niave as to think anything commercial is only based on selling my friend.

If the original post is here to ask for free help, I HAVE ASKED AQUA TWICE the same question to find this out!

If free help is what she needs I was more than willing to offer assistance if I could.

And ponder this for a moment...

If she wants to pay somebody to do this service for her, then will somebody be SELLING something on the back of this????

Of course they will!

Therefore this thread is COMMERCIAL. She is advertising for someone to help, and they will charge for it.

GET IT?

As I pointer out once already this:

You have to be familiar with Linux server config, php, db, after moving all have to be checked, debugged.

You have to have a professional attitude, and time to complete this job starting even today.

is not the voice of someone asking for FREE help.

If I am wrong then surely Aqua will tell us, and this will then answer the question of Do you want assistance in how to do this or have you GOT TO have someone to work for you? AGAIN.

Sheeeeeesh, it is becoming harder to help people around here for free these days.

CC my man... chill out... think of nice things, fluffy bunnies, little lambs, spiky fruit...

I'm not sure about all this. Someone asks for help. That's cool.

Someone says: Hey. I need it yesterday, I will pay. That's cool.

But then there is this semi-job advertisement saying a whole bunch of requirements needed that do sound _very_ commercial.

Right now I have the feeling I am reading an advert for a commercial company looking for talent,

not someone that needs help because she cannot do it herself.

Perhaps it's not intented that way but I for one would have responded to the post if it would have been less 'job posting' like...

IMHO CC is right about the tone of the message being out of context here wether it is commercial or not.

Why? Because I am always

URGENT!

Looking for jobs. Any.

You have to pay well and never complain.

You have to bring me coffee while I work on your crappy applications.

If I break your computer it will not be my fault. You'll have to say sorry to me.

Actually I want to get paid extra for doing that.

PM me if you have any job.

And I need you to do that today

But I assume Aqua121 comes / works in a different background then what we are used to see on these forums.

Guess it's an Open Source thing vs Commercial World.

We geeks live on a different social level.

It requires special skills to approach us... we only talk to computers

and think 'Bow before me for I am Root' all day....

let's start at the beginning:

... back to my original post.

Do you want assistance in how to do this or have you GOT TO have someone to work for you?

CC.

I clearly understand CC, and I wish I could get the FREE assistance in this case!

However, there are certail points in your work, when you can not depend on FREE help, when you NEED to get something done right then.

I very much appreciate this community, and I offer my help as I could, but also understand, that everyone has to pay their bills, and that's 1st priority, especially around the holidays, when everyone is extra busy.

So, that's the reason I posted this "Help Needed For Pay" project.

It's not a small job. I didn't want to post all details here.

But if I offended anyone, I want you to know that I didn't mean it, and I'm sorry!

In case you're willing to help for FREE, RIGHT NOW, maybe for days....I'm sure I'd like that, but I do not want to take advantage of anyone's good will.

Cheers :)

Warning! Humour!

The mere fact that you are using osCommerce shows the opposite :-) Or did you send us a donation?

SCNR. No offense meant.

Merry christmas to all of you! And have fun with osCommerce. And yes, rest assured. We will continue to spend days and days on osCommerce. For free. Right now. To help all of our users.

Pardon my cynicism (too much pepperoni pizza for dinner I guess) but I'm just sort of wondering.....if oscommerce isnt supposed to be used for "commerce" perhaps the word "commerce" should be removed from the name? Or did I miss something somewhere?
