Guest Posted August 9, 2008 Share Posted August 9, 2008 Ive added this in a couple different places (new to this forum sorry for the unintentional spam) I will also try in an article manager thread. By the way the header tags seo addon is awesome So Jack or anyone else I am not sure how to get the meta information for the articles. The other pages seem to be fine and I see header tags 2.6 and article manager are supposed to work together but I do not see any info for header tags seo. Will they work together. One other thing is that I can't seem to get a seperate title tag for the main index page and the other pages that use the index.php file. The closest I can get is to display the default index meta tags then it will append the category descriptions and title etc to the default tags when a category is clicked. I would like to drop the defaults when a category is clicked (the problem being that the home page doesn't have tags when I use page control to change the index.php page to accomplish the single category descriptions and tags.) Jack Thanks that was a quick response, So I notice article manager has spots for meta tags in the admin for each new article I will assume those were for header tags add on and not your new seo version. Can I run both header tags and header tags seo so I can take advantage of the metas on my articles (I assume no, but had to ask). Are you familiar with article manager 1.5 On a side note your product works well, I have only had the site up a couple weeks, and have number two pos in msn search for compressed air car and gaining in google very fast. Too fast the site isn't even close to ready and I have like 50 subscribers already, lol thanks. Very little other off page seo has been done. I do think getting the articles to generate metas would def increase seo as well so hopefully you are able to get that to work. In the mean time I will try. If I have success Ill send you the code. If you go back in this thread a ways there is a post containing code that is meant to get articles manager to work with this contribution. I haven't tried it but it might work for you. Since you were able to do that, I suggest using the headertags_seo.sql file instead to get the changes installed. I did add the headertags command to the sts settings as mentioned in the instructions and the catalog/index.php, and for that matter all pages are giving me the title of my website and not "New Home Page Title". Will it be better for me to keep moving with this contribution and try to solve this problem later or continue to wait. I have double category images on the main product page. And the product info page has become distorted with the product info box too wide for the layout causing the right column to post below the center section. I did add the headertags command to the sts settings as mentioned in the instructions and the catalog/index.php, and for that matter all pages are giving me the title of my website and not "New Home Page Title". Will it be better for me to keep moving with this contribution and try to solve this problem later or continue to wait. I would like to integrate it to work with the Manufacturers2 Contribution. The Contribution basically duplicates the entire Manufacturers function and just adds a '2' to the end of it. ie. manufacturers2_id, m2, manufacturers2_name. I have already integrated this to work with Ultimate SEO URL's and URL Validation and the edits I needed to make in the .php files are pretty easy due to the fact that I just have to duplicate the manufacturer function and then change it a little. I'm confident I could change all the approapriate files that Header Tags v3 needs. My only problem is the .sql file Header Tags uses to install, I have very basic knowledge of sql and was hoping you could write an sql file that would simply update my current installation. I have written out below what I think needs to be added, I just don't know how to put this into a coherent file that would update the database. I've been adding the meta tags for all my pages and when I view the page I can see that the description + title + keywords have been updated - GREAT ... I went through the admin section however and clicked on the tick box that says View Result .. for each page i'm getting a yellow Title box stating 302 Found and for Description and Keyword(s) it just has a red outline around it ... does this mean its not picking up these from the page?? their visible though I checked the pages source... But the 302 is being returned from your site. It has notihng to do with Header Tags but is a problem that needs to be fixed since it should not be returning that. Jack hmm thats not good ... I checked my page source tho and it is displaying the all the meta data there ... so Google and other bots aren't going to pick this up then if its got the red outline?? As a matter of fact I get no meta tags at all and the title is the default SHOP_NAME value.. Im on MS2 with STS and have made all changes but without any luck. We run a number of sites and I have installed Header Tags SEO on 2 of them (www.mesltd.co.uk) and (www.boatbitz.co.uk) The mes site seems to run fine, however, on boatbitz, for some reason I can't get the 'fill tags' option to create any tags for my categories, no matter what I do they all seem to default to the default tags! Fill Tags should fill the categories and manufacturers assuming they have correct entries already. You can change those manually by going to admin->Catalog and editing a category or manufacturer. Since one shop is working, you can use that to compare against. You might also want to check whether the php/mysql versions are different between the two.
