I have read several topics regarding the requirement of port 1129 needing to be open for Linkpoint API to work. Additionally, it has been repeatedly said that only dedicated servers can open this port. As we all know, dedicated server hosting can be costly.

I am working on a solution, which is nearing completion. PLease participate and feel free to answer any of the following questions:

1. Is anyone aware of any non-dedicated web hosting with the capability of opening port 1129 which allows Linkpoint API to function?

2. Is anyone aware of any inexpensive dedicated server hosting which allows Linkpoint API to function?

3. Can anyone give input as to the cost range for web hosting that supports and allows Linkpoint API to function? (If you are using Linkpoint API - what are you paying for web hosting)

4. Please participate and give any other ideas, suggestions, or the like regarding web hosting with port 1129 open for Linkpoint API....

could you tell me your budget for web hosting & preferable location of server?

Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here!

8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself.

Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues.

Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.

Thank you for your post. I own and operate web servers. Currently, I am configuring a server that will allow Linkpoint API to function so that I may offer low cost web hosting with automatic osCommerce installation and Linkpoint API integration without all the headaches. I am looking at full tech support and numerous bells and whistles. I need information to ensure that it is econimically possible to do so.

This is why I posted this thread in this forum. If you have experienced searching for web hosting for Linkpoint API functionality, what price ranges have you seen? SO far, my research has shown only dedicated servers are capable of port 1129 being opened and for many people, dedicated hosting is out of their budget. I am here to solve that problem.

Your suggestions and input are very valuable in this project.

These work but we had reliability problems when we were using them. I have heard that they may have since resolved the problem. Godaddy dedicated is more reliable but more costly and also works with linkpoint.
