grunionfab Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Looking at my store it shows my featured products and then everything else that eveyone elses stores show... Its very boring and doesnt attract me so i am doubting it is very exciting to my customers..... I am wondering what you all have to done make the front page of your stores stand out or really entice (sp?) your customers? Are there contributions you have added or anything to maybe make advertisements easy to manage? Any marketing strategies you have come up with that you think help sales?

Personally I have custom designed a logo for my store as well as cart, checkout, and "My Account" images. I also have tons of add-ons. I use Star Product, Login Box, Wishlist, Featured Products, Shop By Price, Dynamenu (vertical layout), All Products, and many more. I also have custom-tweaked some of the code to display certain things from my database as those are not included in OSC by default. I also custom-made a "security" box for my site, which just hosts my SSL and my Paypal Verified logos/certs. In addition I added lots of stuff to the Information Box. My best advice would be to look at your competitors sites and borrow ideas from them. Also look at the big guys' sites, e.g., Walmart, Best Buy, Amazon, etc. for ideas. Also just surf through the contributions and see if anything sounds like a good idea. I find new stuff in there to implement nearly every day.
