Draeisme Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 My site has been up for about a month now. I'm content with how it functions and how it looks, now its time for traffic  . I got one sale through ebay, a customer bought an eBook from there then followed the bread trail to my site and made a purchase. So that worked nicely. :-) I am using yahoo sponsored ads, just spending a dollar a day. So far people come to the site through the adwords, but they dont browse or anything. Not sure if sponsored ads are cutting it. I have a sitemap, and meta tags. I recently added buttons for social bookmarking. What other suggestions are there for getting more traffic? Do you guys think i should raise my prices? www . raysebookshop.com

Do you guys think i should raise my prices? www . raysebookshop.com I think that your customers are leaving immediately, because of the look of the website... try to have a completely better design and customers will feel better and sure. Now the whole site seems too amateurish. I think that a standard oscommerce with only 2 css colors changes and a logo change can have more appeal... I'm sorry to say this, band probably it is only my opinion. Spend your money in a good graphic designer. When I look at your website I don't feel nothing... The look isn't good for what you sell. You need to transfer enjoyment to your customers by making them think about how much is simple to buy and download these ebooks and to read them. I love oscommerce and OS software! Guest Posted April 4, 2008 Posted April 4, 2008 Hi, Getting traffic is never easy. This is the hardest part in buiding a website. Most people spend 90% of their time in writting web page content and 10% in promotion (including me). I think the right proportion should be 20% in writting web page content and 80% in promotion. Best regards

Best regards You're right 'AnyDemo'. I dont think looks are of the utmost importance. Look at craigslist. It has no style whatsoever yet people go go and go. Because it is advertised as a plan for deals and such.

yos40 Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 Actually i must agree w/ the site design problem (I'm sure mine has the same problem and it looks very good) although i know it's safe and secure i will never buy at a site that looks like that, I'll prefer to pay $20 more.... template monster has great templates that are easy to install and modify to your needs. try it out. as well try to add google and other products feeds, maybe try to add some money for advertising. zhexiang Posted April 7, 2008 Posted April 7, 2008 template monster has great templates that are easy to install and modify to your needs I seriously doubt it. I've seen lots of people who use TM templates but problems with modifying to their needs.
Draeisme Posted April 8, 2008 Author Posted April 8, 2008 You guys look at it form an Oscommerce view point, it's not hard to tell what changes have been made. I dont think the average customer has any idea about oscommerce, so are half of the points still valid? I don't specifically see whats wrong, what changes can i make to make it look more professional?
Guest Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I agree with the "design" critics. While I also don't believe that the average person knows about or cares whether you use osC, there is a pretty clear difference between stores that look like they have a prof. design, and others that were created by someone on their night off (i realize that is most of us). Try this experiment: Choose a product category that you know about but have never looked to purchase over the web. Then google 3-5 online stores that sell the product. If you had to buy from one of the stores which one woul you feel most comfortable sending money to and why? Is price the only factor? It sure isn't for me. The quality of your website design already says something about the products you are selling to me. Your store doesn't convince me as a consumer that what I'm buying is of value or that it is even safe to put my credit card info into your system. Hope this 'critic' helps you. regards, rohrl77

It is much better! BUT: Please stay away from font Times new roman in the header and product pages. Use only one font in your website. use only 2-3 sizes of the font and use only 1-2 colors. I'm doubtfull about the gradient infobox headers, but it is much better than before. Check your competitors websites and try to get inspired by them. I love oscommerce and OS software!
