Customer registration

I'm playing osCommerce on my local server which is without a mail server before attempting a live install. Not surprisingly the process fell over when I attempted to create a new customer account. However, on querying the customers table and address_book table I see that a record has been set up in each and they look to be complete. BUT I cannot log in as that customer. Does it requires the user to confirm their details? And what changes are made by the confirmation process? Can I simply edit one of the table entries to enable me to log in?

Thanks

The process should still work, even without the email. You should be able to create an account and log in, do test orders, etc.

BTW, what is your server?

Thanks. Since I know it should work I've deleted the user and added it again - and bingo it worked this time! I'm running Apache/2.2.4 (Win32) and PHP/5.2.2

Many thanks
