Guest
Is it possible to upgrade to the new version from the old (MS2.2) version without losing all of my data? I'm looking at the extracted zip file and all I see are installation files - nothing about upgrading from a previous version. It must be possible, isn't it? Thanks. Guest
download the latest ver from http://www.oscommerce.com/solutions/downloads then follow the instructions in the included upgrade.html Note: you'll need to do the previous upgrades first (look in the extras folder in the archive)
Guest
Thanks very much. Can you verify one more thing for me? When upgrading, I'm to just disregard all of the files in the zip download and just apply the updates manually using the instructions? When done, I can just delete the extraneous files without uploading anything in the zip archive?
joethesysadmin
I have this exact same question. Essentially, I inherited a tarball "backup" of a 2.2-MS2 website that I'm having a difficult time getting working again. The catalog seems to work perfectly, except that the software won't INSERT or UPDATE the database when I make changes to the 'configuration' table via the administration section. I am hoping that upgrading to 2.2-RC2 will fix this problem. The official instructions say to: # Migrate dataNext, copy the old database over to the new database by using a tool such as phpMyAdmin or similar utility. But, this isn't very helpful. The database dump that I have (obtained through a mysqldump command) doesn't have the DROP IF EXIST or CREATE TABLE statements, but it complains about duplicate entries when I try to import it over the top of the database installed by the base installation. Like: ERROR 1062 (23000) at line 25: Duplicate entry '138' for key 1 So. I ask the same question that the OP asked. Is it possible to upgrade to the new version from the old (MS2.2) version without losing all of my data?
