I don't like it... colours are best for gardening... ande there is no content at all. Search in google for jewelry and watch what they do... you will find some inspiration. This is my best advice. I love oscommerce and OS software! I'm not a programmer, I'm only a learning boy and a translator :) I love full contribution packages!

dynamoeffects Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Why is your site in a frame? That's going to kill you in the search engines. Also clicking on any category displays the same page. Other than irritating your potential customers, Google's going to penalize your site for duplicate content. Please use the forums for support! I am happy to help you here, but I am unable to offer free technical support over instant messenger or e-mail.
digilee Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 It's a stock install with header colours changed. Fine if that's all you aspire to. You need to look at branding synergy and the company as a whole, not just a quick 5 mins changing colours. SolarFrenzy Solar powered gadgets at down to earth prices. Ok, that's clear, although I did more than just change the colors, but I know what you mean
Guest Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Ok, I see I did something wrong because the products categories are not showing. I am going to work on the site for a couple of hours, days, months <_<
Guest Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Good day to you Karin, This site review brought to you by Firefox2.0/broken WinXP/ intel 1152x864 32bit / sound off / cookies, javascript enabled popups blocked. I don't read your language so I can not comment on specifically what you say. (Doing your own language well is required. Catering to other languages is optional, difficult, but nice.) But I can tell you that the front page is spartan. It looks like you are welcoming me to your site followed by a request to login or create an account. I see you give a two sentence news item. >_< Why should I buy from you? Who are you? What is special about you? Those questions should be answered automatically upon entering the site in the primmest of views. Nitty Picky: ...Alt=osCommerce on your Logo. ...To get an account, why you you need my d.o.b.? ...To get an account, why you you need my gender? ...When checked, the thumbnails were the same as the larger image. ...The popup window for viewing enlarged imaged opened at like 150x100 instead of the image size. I am not sure if this was a suggestion, but the dropdown, yes dropdown for country has only 1 (one) country. If you wish only those of a specific residence to sign-up then hard code it in and make a statement to that effect. No SSL where I should have had it. Having your full name as the from line on the customer greeting email was a nice friendly touch. You have the barest of product descriptions. You present nothing really for either sector: searchbots or consumers. The importance of content is too well documented to rehash it here. Get/Make/Find/Create content. You need words to tell and sell. I have always maintained the out-of-the-box osCommerce looks just fine for an out-of-the-box ecommerce program. I usually try and say nice things about a site, but sometimes gotta be mean and say, you know what, you site looks kinda boring, blah. If others determine the look of the site then I would recommend you urge them to make it more appealing. If they might be a brick-n-mortar then what are their stationary themes (some go to great lengths in designing company logos, ect), how can they be captured for the customer? The black and white is too stark, lacking a theme. (Suggestion: don't buy a template. Build your own theme. If you ever go looking a templates for ideas remember that they were designed to sell templates, not your products.) Even changing the stylesheet.css can have a big impact (Playing with fonts can produce interesting effects depending upon which fonts your clients have installed, use the undefined set of common fonts). I appreciate having your store occuping the width of my screen rather than a predefined value.
