Jim Bailey Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 First post so please be gentle with me...... my site is nearing completion ( I think & hope ) so before I start spending money on promoting /adwords etc, I would appreciate you comments. I know that the stock levels need to increase and this is ongoing, but otherwise, I bare my chest to you all !! Thanks in advance www.baileysmenswear.co.uk Jim
dynamoeffects Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Looks fantastic! Don't change a thing. I will say, as a person who deals with this everyday, don't bother with adwords. It's a waste of money, especially in a saturated market as the one you're in. Instead focus on social networks and trying to advertise and spread the word there. I've noticed that clothing shops have a lot better chance there than in traditional advertising markets. Please use the forums for support! I am happy to help you here, but I am unable to offer free technical support over instant messenger or e-mail.

Wow.... didn't expect that kind of response....I just need to get some transactions through the site. Looking at the Google Analytics data that I have, I am getting traffic but nothing of much value in sales. Is there a yardstick for converting visitors to sales ? Jim

futuremillions Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Very cute. I like it! If at first you don't succeed, restore your backup files!
Guest Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Good Evening Jim, Excellent first impressions upon entering your site. Your information pages answered my questions. It was easy to sign-up for an account. I could only take a test order so far because you don't ship outside of the UK. The out of box osCommerce had a red error message which would appear when there is a problem. I clicked on continue a couple times before I realized what was holding up the transaction. Maybe you can develope your own warnings, if you don't like the stock ones. But then, you probably don't get too many American's ordering shoes either. My only negative comments are regarding the buttons. They are about the only thing that doesn't match style, they are too shiny or modern. You have one of the few secure contact forms I have seen, kudos. I found some empty Brand pages (like Voi Jeans), if you can disable them like I can then do so because empty pages are not good. I leave you with one abandoned shopping cart. A pretty good site.
burt Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 It's a good looking shop that I am pleased to see is made with hard work - and not with a template monster... I added it on the Hot 100 list.

Jim Bailey Posted March 30, 2008 Author Posted March 30, 2008 Thanks for reviewing the site Doug. I will consider the buttons choice and see what alternatives can be found. Shipping to the USA should not have been a problem so that will need a little bit of investigative work. Very much appreciated comments, Jim

Thank you Burt .... all credit to my son who built the site. I know that he has put a few hours work into it. The acid test of course is the volume of traffic that we can generate and hopefully much turnover. Jim
