I wish to change this - the client clicks on a model(s), goes to check out, pays using Mastercard/Visa/Paypal etc. When the payment has been received, automatically an e-mail is sent to the client with an activation link which permits him to download the file. How can I organise this? Thanks Bob

Thanks Bob oscommerce has features that allow for downloadable products. it's not through an email link -- after the product is paid for, the customer is allowed to download the item through oscommerce itself. read through the documentation on downloadable products and maybe some of the forums as well. then, if you have specific questions you can post them here. but it's pretty easy to set up.
