gillamb Posted March 27, 2008 Posted March 27, 2008 I'm currently in the process of selling my store, in order to give me some capital to buy a house. I have learnt a hell of a lot in the two years since i first had the idea, and will miss all the challenges of having a functioning store, so this got me to thinking of setting up a new store, seeing as I've worked hard to create a nice site which can easily be copied and modified to another store. In the terms of the sale of my current business, i can't set up in a related area, which is understandable, so I come round to the age old question of what to sell. The thought occurred to me that the thousands of oscommerce users around the world will be selling a variety of items. From dropshipping brand names, to selling home made crafts, and they will be selling mainly to their own home market (I'm in the UK and sell 95% to the UK). So what if we could get a database going of items made/distributed by oscommerce users which they are happy to ship wholesale to another country for someone else (i.e. me!) to create a shop for in that market. This could open up new areas for the manufacturers, increase economies of scale, and answer a lot of peoples questions on what to sell. Admiteddly the proportion of shops selling items that would fit into this idea may be low - but is it worth a go? Any thoughts?
