ImCamping Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Anyone know where standard visa credit card laws are, and my question is, can cvv2 information be stored in the database legally?
web-project Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Can cvv2 data be legally stored where? No, No and again No. the cvv2 is used by merchant to verify the credit card, the same same as signature. illegal to save anywhere even on peace of paper. Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here! 8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself. Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues. ♥toyicebear Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Alex is absolutely right, its an absolute no, no to save the CVV in any form. Get an online payment gateway solution, you will be far better of in the long run. The websites which use CVV/CVV2 authorization correctly do not store the info at all, They use an online payment gateway which validates the CVV/CVV2 info in realtime and then store the returned cc payment code autorization number and not the CVV/CVV2 number.
