Payment Module IPN

Guest

Recommended Posts

I have posted this question before and have not had a satisfactory answer; so here it is slightly different.

There are numerous forum post that indicate that I must activate BOTH return URLs for "Auto return" and for the "Instant Payment Notification". The problem is that there does not seem to be any agreement as to what URL to use for the returns.

On the other hand, one person said that osC will do all of that automatically and nothing needs to be changed in the PayPal account.

There seems to be a lot of confusion how to use the IPN payment module!

Is there any osC documentation or any other sound documentation that will supply the correct answers"? It would be most helpful to have the system work as it needs to work!

PLEASE help!!

Thanks, Don

Really? not at all as everything is described in installation manual.

you don't need to activate anything in PayPal account.

Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here!

8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself.

Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues.

Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.

Apparently you have a different osC documentation manual than I have because mine (dated 3/27/06 and downloaded with the osC code) does not address payment modules to any extent. Would you please give me the URL to the "Installation Manual" to which you refer?

Here is my problem: We believe that all of our customer's payment notifications are being sent to the store from PayPal. However, please explain how one customer has an email notification sent to himself and the store and yet another customer's email notification is not sent and the order remains in his cart.

BTW, there are forum posts and add-ons which address this problem saying that return URLs must be activated in PayPal for the cases where the customer chooses not to return to the store. Are you saying that these folks do not know what they are talking about and are confused?

Please be a bit more verbose so that I can understand what you are trying to tell me.

Thank you.......

Your question was answered. You don't have to do anything in PayPal. The IPN takes care of it from my understanding. I don't use anything "activated" in PayPal and it works fine. If the question is asked what URL to use then you will be given the URL to use if you choose to activate it in PayPal. That is not saying they don't know what they are saying. They are answering a specific question... The person that asks the question asks with the assumption that you have to activate the URL on the PayPal end and gets the correct answer accordingly. So, when they ask what URL to use they are given the answer. BUT, you DO NOT have to activate the URL in your PayPal account.

In regards to your question about the notification not being sent...... maybe the customer's notification email is not sent and the order is still in the cart because the order was not finished. Maybe that customer didn't complete the check-out process. Check that.

Amen. After a lot of messing around with the other IPN contribution I installed v1.4 from your link.

A lot longer to set up but I have a big smile on my face now, such a pleasure to use without any head scratching.

THANK YOU.
