Guest Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 HI. I have a rather unsucessful shopping site www.thenottcollection.co.uk selling greetings cards and such like. When I set it up, I decided to have free shipping and set all at free shipping and put he weight in at 0.1 or 0.2. I have, now added a range that requires shipping and removed free shipping and decided to use shipping tables. As I do not want to charge for old cards, i set it at 0.9:0,1:1.50,2:3.00,4:4.50 etc to charge the new cards 1.50 per card postage.. however to date I have not been able to get it to work.. anyone who could help me would be brilliant. I am profoundly deaf and struggling on a zero budget (when are we not!) There have been small changes to catalogue coding, but the basic coding as far as I am aware is unchanged from original. thanks stevetton
♥Vger Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 The Table or Zones or World Zones shipping modules are not meant to charge zero for any product with a weight. I think that's where your problem is. Try this: 1. Give the products you don't want to charge shipping for a zero weight. 2. Enable downloads in your osCommerce admin panel. 3. Products with a zero weight should now skip the shipping page. You have good products to sell, but your problem is that your website does not do them any justice at all. Your logo, which should be prominent is tiny and dwarved by the scrolling marquee of cards. Make the logo bigger and lose the marquee - they've been out of fashion for years. Move the website down into the root - it won't harm your Google page rankings because the site doesn't have any. Install 'Ultimate SEO URLs'. Give the design a complete makeover. This is one of those instances where you have to invest to return a profit. Vger
Guest Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Thanks for your help, I will implement the things you have suggested. Any idea how I can get my site ranked, as I am actually not achieving any sales, it is, as you say, very hard to find my site. thanks stevetton The Table or Zones or World Zones shipping modules are not meant to charge zero for any product with a weight.
