Attribute Model Numbers

Can someone recommend a contribution that would allow me to assign individual model numbers for product attributes? My catalog contains many products whose model number is determined by which attribute a customer would choose. The green version of an item has a different model number from the red version of the same item. I don't want to have to list each version as a separate product, I'd rather just assign model numbers to the attributes.
