Setting up a Win-XP test server for Oscommerce

I have succesfully installed XAMPP with PHP/MySQL 5 to test and upgrade my production sites from my PHP/MySQL 4 on my WIN-XP Box. Works well in catalog after a few modifications due to MySQL 5 syntax, but I get a Server error 500 when trying to shift to admin. Can this be due to some fundamental PHP/MySQL issues, or where is the culprit?

Actually I am a bit surprised how XP seemingly has managed to understand the directory protection on my Linux server. Or can this have anything to do with it?

Not much help in these fora any longer, but glad I could help myself then and share the solution with you: Removed the .htaccess file from the /admin folder.
