Guest Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 This is our first affiliate and we have no link at the front end. This is going to be a test affiliate. However, our back-end has no button for adding an affiliate manually... or at least we can't find it. Can someone help us with some basic instructions? Once we add an affiliate and a banner I'm sure we can figure the rest of it out.

Guest Posted March 25, 2008 Posted March 25, 2008 I've looked in to that. I can add a banner - though I haven't yet. Do I need to add a banner before I can add an affiliate, or can I add an affilate without adding a banner just yet? What I need to do is add a buddy of mine as an affiliate. He'll put the banner on his website. We'll see how it works when the first order comes in, work out the bugs, and process our first affiliate payment. I don't want to add an affiliate link to my site on the front end until we're ready and know how it all works. This is an experiment, but I can't find a link to make it work. When I go to affiliates, I see the Affilates link. It says I have zero affiliates, which is true. But, I don't see an "Add Affiliate" button or link anywhere. I guess I expected it to be obvious, but it's just not. Edit: Added a banner - still no link on the back end to add an affiliate. Plus I need to change the commission from 10% to 5% and can't find a way to do that.

I thought you were an affiliate wanting to add you affiliates banner. I take it you didnt install the affiliates addon yourself, or you would know from the directions in the package how to do all that. Look here and download this for a users guide. http://addons.oscommerce.com/info/158 If you dont mind saying, where did you get your version of osCommerce? Did it come with the affiliates manager preinstalled? Follow the community build: BS3 to osCommerce Responsive from the Get Go! Check out the new construction: Admin Gone to Total BS!
Guest Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 No idea where it came from. I use Joomla, but I don't even know what this site uses. I'm a temporary employee of a company who makes an outstanding set of products. They want more sales and I want a piece of the pie. The owner has never used the affiliate site and since I'm used to VirtueMart (don't laugh, it works, though it's not as sophisticated as osCommerce) I have very little knowledge on how to use it. Thank you for the link!
