I would like to start a web site selling religious books and gifts. I have heard many good things about OsCommerce. My question is this: which is the best version? I have also heard a lot about patches and user contributions. Is there a list of which contributions I should use? Are there some recommended patches for security, better reporting, useful features, that sort of thing? I would appreciate your help and suggestions. Many thanks, Laura

As for contribution database it's located here! 8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself. Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues. Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.

I was wondering if someone could tell me which ones are important or recommended. I've seen some discussion of some security fixes and a few that allow using paypal. Which ones are important, and which paypal add on should I use. There just seems to be so much there I could spend a lot of time trying to find what I need and then I might still get the wrong ones.

Laura, no one can tell you which are the right addons for your site. Do spend some time on the forum, particulary in the contribution support forum so that you will get an idea of what is happening and what is supported. As for security fixes, the latest osc has them already.
