Guest Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 I am a designer wanting to really learn the ins and outs of customization of an on-line store to offer to my clients. I am wavering between Zen-cart and osCommerce. I am just learning php and javascript but my flash, html and css skills are advanced. Is there a book that is endorsed by the community that covers the latest release? I want to customize the look and feel mostly since I think I can figure out the rest. Guest Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 Monika In Germany has written books on osC, they are available on Amazon. In the contributions section there is a <div> version of osC available but I think it is out of date with a lot of contributions addd.

Guest Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 The new version of osC is still being developed and is still a beta version as far as I know so I do not think the book will be updated for all the versions till the final release comes out. The code base has not changed that much yet but with the future releases I think it will change dramatically. IMO it is best to go with release from Aug 2007 (sourgeforce <sp>) as it is stable and solid and is what most of the contributions are for. If you want you can ask Monika directly what her plans are for future books.
