I need some information to make a mod for free shipping on certain products. I eat the shipping on certain products to encourage customer loyalty. I am trying to make shipping free on all items with a 0 weight.

 

I found this:

Free Shipping with Zero Weight

 

But it calls for editing includes/shopping_cart.php and I do not have a shopping cart in includes. I have one under catalog, which does not have the text he spelled out and one under includes/classes

 

So, does any one know how to do this on make the contrib I linked to work?

I may be wrong, but if you look at the instructions, I beleive it says to modify the file in includes/classes/shopping_cart.php

It does, but the majority of the changes are said to be in the first file. I printed it out.

 

it wants you to change:

includes/shopping_cart.php

includes/classes/shopping_cart.php

 

I do not have a includes/shopping_cart.php file. I have one in the main catalog, but it does not have the text he refers to replacing or adding too.

Why don't you simply amend your shipping rates?

Use Table Rates and this is easy to accomplish.

 

How's that? Some of the free shipping items cost $150 but are very small so they are easy to ship. I have some $135 items that are heavy and bulky to ship and cost a lot to ship.

 

I just looked at it and the $135 items cost me $16 to $30 to ship but Some of the $150 only cost $3 to $5 with USPS to ship. So with Table I am getting screwed on some items. Or I have to be unrealistic with their actual weights to remover the shipping costs.

In the table I have and set to weight:

0:0.00,5:5.00,10:7.50,20:10.00,25:22.50

 

I have a call for 85.95 and a bogus product for .01 and both at a weight of 0 and both come up as $5. I had the first zero a 1 and they still went to $5 shipping.

 

I really wanted to use the UPS chart, but I can't get the free shipping contrib to work. So for this to work right I have to monkey with all the weights to make shipping fair, right?

Free shipping contrib

 

I got this to work on the shipping charges but checkout_shipping.php keeps baouncing back to it self instead of moving on to payment. You can read the code below. This looks to work for zero weight free shipping IF this bouncing back glitch would stop.

 

Any advice, beside reloading the old file. ;)

This rookie thinks it might be in this as this is the button recycling the page. But what do I know.

No answer to this? I'm having the same problem... :/

 

It seems to work IF you also include items that add on shipping, but not for orders with total free shipping.
