Switching from Zen to osCommerce cre fully loaded

I currently have a website with a Zen cart and I want to be able to add affiliates and since I can't find a way to add to zen I am thinking I should switch to cre fully loaded. Is this even possible? I am really a newbie and I had a developer help with the first installation. I am hoping to do this mostly myself. I am assuming that it means a new template but will I have to reload product? I would appreciate any feed back and suggestions on where to start even if you say get a programmer girl, this is over your head. Thanks. Ronda

This is the osCommerce forum, not the osCommerce CRE loaded forum. How should we know (or care)?

Thank you Coopco and Altea. I'll try there.

RondaJane, do you really need a template?

I don't know but I did check the other site you gave me a link to and they had the information. Unfortunately my daughter got on my computer when I was checking on dinner and so I am retracing my steps to find the info again. Thank you for your help. Ronda

OK, the point is you do not need a template to make the site look ok.

Thank you Leslie, that was an unanswered question i had. Site ground is my host and they do have a website builder that I spent time doing the tutorials yesterday but wasn't sure whether it would work for the cre loaded. You start with a template and alter it somewhat. But are you saying that the shopping cart can be loaded and it will have a framework to build on? I wasn't sure a cart could be uploaded without some kind of template to tell it where to place everything or is that what a cart is? Sorry for the simplistic questions. I know I can do this if I get a few questions answered and a general understanding of how everything fits together. I used to be great at it but have taken the last 15 years off because of kids. Now it is rare I get uninterupted time to think through things to learn. I started over 25 years ago writing mini programs called culprits on punched cards that you could only submit to the main frame at night and the last thing I was using was dbase (which I loved).

Thank you for your help. Ronda

CRE bloated is not supported here, as previously mentioned (and neither should it be) are you absolutely sure you can't achieve what you need using a fresh clean oscommerce as downloadable here?

The osc that you download from the blue solutions tab at the top of the page will give you the basic shopping cart. If you go to the yellow showcase tab at the top of the page, click on demonstration to see the basic catalog. It does need work to make it look like you want, but there is no need for a template. So, it does have the framework to build on. The big advantage is, everyone on this forum will know what the code looks like. You can go to the contributions area and select addons that you want. We will still know what the code looks like. Now days, there is plenty of help on the forum (but nobody will hold your hnd - have a go, if you then need help, just ask). FYI, I site does not use a template, it is just the basic osc with a few tweaks (the site is in my profile if you want to look).
