changing number of products shown on index

hi im trying to get my index to show 4 product.

 

2 rows of 2 collumbs can anyone help and maybe see where its gone wrong

 

(ps i aint to clever with script)

In this case, you have to change the column to 2 and set the Maximum number of products display to 4.
