nighthero Posted March 20, 2008 Posted March 20, 2008 i saw some flash movies (http://centredesupporttechnique.net/movies/) that explains a lot of things and i understand them quite well but theres is my problem: i've loaded a virtual appliance (oscommerce) that is mounted on vmware workstation (based on a linux 2.6 server) everything seems to be ok. when i point my browser at the adress i can log in the admin panel and start to modify things in the oscommerce demo and it is very interesting. that helps us to test the fonctionality of the site before we buy a template that fits our goals.... tha fact is that i cannot modify the permissions on the site..... i mean; they use cute ftp to modify permissions on config .php files but i can't find them? or reach them....so that i could apply modifications on the site..... the site... it looks like it is wrapped in the virtual appliance wich is actually a .vmdk file is there's something that i missed somewhere?

Thanks for the video link. Very handy! I have logged several comments for the creator of the VMWARE OsCommerce virtual appliance as I too am a little confused on how to "get files into it" and make changes....especially since I'm relatively new to OsCommerce and currently a complete UNIX neophyte. The main thing I can't work out is how I would get files into the server via FTP for instance... Did you work this out?
