jmunnerl Posted March 19, 2008 Posted March 19, 2008 Hi fellow osCommerc-ers, I got everything up and running fine from within my LAN, but when my store is called from outside the lan at my web-address, it loads SOOOOOOOOOO slow, and the images never load. This is the case even when I havn't made any modification to the default catalog whatsoever. Any ideas? I'm wondering if it could be some kind of permissions issue. I'm thinking this because from the web admin, when I try to upload a new image to a new product, it tells me that the images folder isn't writable. This makes me wonder if that folder and some other critical folders might not even be readable. The store is being served from a server running ClarkConnect.
jmunnerl Posted March 20, 2008 Author Posted March 20, 2008 I figured it out. During the installation of oscommerce, it asks for your database server ip address. The correct address for me was my LAN server address since I'm hosting the server at home on my LAN. Later on in the installation it asks for the WWW address of the store and by default it had put the ip address that I had entered for the database server in the field. I was leaving it that way, so when I tried to access the server from the WAN, it was trying to use the LAN address. Once I figured out the problem, I just put my WAN ip address in the WWW address field, and all was good.
