Warning: I am able to write to the configuration file: /home/marients/public_html/osc/includes/configure.php. This is a potential security risk - please set the right user permissions on this file.

I'm no "osC 'guru'".

The permissions should be 644.

If that doesn't work, try 444. Note that '444' makes it "read only" even for you.

And I wouldn't use FTP for this. It fails most of the time.

Login and use the Control Panel provided by your Web Host (NOT OSC!).

If I suggest you edit any file(s) make a backup first - I'm not perfect and neither are you.

well 777 means write to all where as it should be write to none.

4 is for read,

2 is for execute and 1 is for write.
