web-project Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 How your shop can be hacker proof, if the secure protocol is not enabled? Very dangerous to purchase anything from your website. Where your physical address or phone to contact you? Fake hacker proof seal as it should be with link to verify. Please read this line: Do you want to find all the answers to your questions? click here. As for contribution database it's located here! 8 people out of 10 don't bother to read installation manuals. I can recommend: if you can't read the installation manual, don't bother to install any contribution yourself. Before installing contribution or editing/updating/deleting any files, do the full backup, it will save to you & everyone here on the forum time to fix your issues. Any issues with oscommerce, I am here to help you.
homewetbar Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 Hi. WE started this website http://extreme-gadgets.com a month ago, and since then we haven't been getting any sales, we worked really hard, and I cant figure out what were doing wrong. Can you guys help us, and give us siuggestions? Be patient. It takes a lot of time, you can't expect to just put up a store and the sales to flow in immediately. It takes google generally 5-8 months before they really start indexing your site its called the Google Sandbox effect. Also you should start paying for customers to come to your site in the meantime. What directories or product search sites are you listed on? A side comment, that watermark you are using on your images is horrid. I know you want to protect your images but a repeating watermark over in the background that is so visible is very distracting, try something way more subtle for your watermarks... homewetbar Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 As the post above mentioned you swipped all of those secure site images, remove them and actually sign up for the services they will do you some good. Swipping the images and claiming to be Hackersafe certified and Truste is a poor way to build trust and just plain dishonest. digilee Posted March 14, 2008 Posted March 14, 2008 If you're getting 100+ hits a day, that'll probably be your images and files being downloaded. You counter says -600 visits. Each time you get a visitor they'll produce somewhere around 100+ hits with all those images etc. What you need to concentrate on is unique visitors. and what's this all about (linked from your 'about us'): http://extreme-gadgets.com/main/phpBB3/vie...php?f=6&t=5 SolarFrenzy Solar powered gadgets at down to earth prices. ♥Vger Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 You've faked the Hacker Safe and eTrust, you have no SSL, I'd never buy from your shop!!! Putting 60 products on the homepage is a really great idea (I'm joking). No Meta Tags, no SEO URLs, and you put the shop two levels above the root of the domain in main/shop/ (what's all that about?). Vger
extreme-gadgets Posted March 15, 2008 Author Posted March 15, 2008 Yes, i told my friend to remove those logos and sign up for the actual service, thanks for letting me know about that. I appreciate all your suggestions

I decided to post the About Us, and Order FAQ's on the forum becuase you can easily format it to look good Strange, to me it really looks bad compared to the main shopping site :'( KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON I do not use the responsive bootstrap version since i coded my responsive version earlier, but i have bought every 28d of code package to support burts effort and keep this forum alive (albeit more like on life support). jhande Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 I am still stuck with dialup (no high speed in my area) and gave up after 10 minutes of waiting for the first page to load. If you have an online hosting service they usually provide free shared SSL's. Google SSL certificates - Go Daddy is cheap, RapidSSL, and Comodo just to name a few. - :: Jim :: - - My Toolbox ~ Adobe Web Bundle, XAMPP & WinMerge | Install ~ osC v2.3.3.4 -
satish Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 SEO urls and SSL are a must. Also home page downlaod takes more thena minute due to number of images. DO set the number to less so the over all page size is under 300 KB. Satish Ask/Skype for Free osCommerce value addon/SEO suggestion tips for your site. Guest Posted March 15, 2008 Posted March 15, 2008 Hi. WE started this website http://extreme-gadgets.com a month ago, and since then we haven't been getting any sales, we worked really hard, and I cant figure out what were doing wrong. Can you guys help us, and give us siuggestions? Remove the text that displays over your main image (/images/p1.jpg), it looks like sh*t. Add alt text and title tags to your images. Move your site to the root folder and do 301 redirects so you will keep any indexing that you have. Fix your pages so that your header / main body / footer all line up. Your product page (/product_info.php?products_id=263) looks wierd with the small red writing, then the larger blue text followed by the images that take forever too load and are all different sizes. There is a contribution (called product tabs) that makes tabs for your product info. It would be a really nice way to organize your information. Install header tags and Ultimate SEO URL's. All your page titles are the same wording which does not help the search engines define what the page is about. Your site design is good, I really like the design ... but ... the finish on the site is terrible. There are so many sites out there selling products that IMO if your site does not make me think your company is a professional one.
♥monte22 Posted March 18, 2008 Posted March 18, 2008 Optimize your images! Having a 100 products on the front page, with 100k image each = LOONNNNNNGGG load times. I would eliminate all but a few products from the main page. Make your site line up under the header. Get rid of the currency and language boxes. You dont have anything to choose, so it just makes it look cluttered. And as already mentioned here, get an SSL. James
Davis Joseph Posted August 22, 2012 Posted August 22, 2012 How your shop can be hacker proof, if the secure protocol is not enabled? Very dangerous to purchase anything from your website. Where your physical address or phone to contact you? Fake hacker proof seal as it should be with link to verify. I do agree with web-project because every customer is worried about hacking their confidential information like credit card number etc hence installed SSL is more requirement for every E-commerce website. - Create campaign in Google Adwords is also best idea. - Make your website more search engine visible. Cheers!!
