Using import/export software to rapidly input orders from OScommerce?

Hey guys,

Oscommerce is what Ive been using for the last few months and its working great.

Only problem is, that typing up each order in our accounting system is so SO time consuming.

Ive done some research and it seems like I need a EDI integration software package.

Because im using Peachtree Quantum software, I have found a few companies that offer a integration package, however im curious how well they work.

Ie, I can tell that the software will import the orders from OSCommerce, however, how well does it update customers with tracking information ?

Also, will this software send the customers updates on their orders ? Ie, processing, shipped, etc ? Or will we still need to do that manually ?

Any input you guys can give would be much appreciated, I cant seem to get the answers I need from these software companies and nothing beats talking to a real world OScommerce user whos using these integration packages.

Hello,

I have been writting some standalone osCommerce applications to some customers. I know nothing about Peachtree Quantum software. Do you know what database do Peachtree Quantum software use?

Oh.... no.... at least you can use a simple application that export your orders orderly to a text file so that you can copy and paste.

Peachtree Quantum is basically the same thing as the normal Peachtree software, however its multi user designed, and designed for many more products and invoices than standard Peachtree.

We really need to do something about the orders we are receiving though, its very time consuming even for three dedicated people to write up all the orders, and update them.

Ive searched around and found several EDI companies that have programs to transfer orders into Peachtree, and they make it seem incredibly simple to import the orders directly into peachtree.

Im really wondering though, is it REALLY as simple as they make it out to be ? Will customers be updated as far as tracking numbers when information is exported ?

I hope theres someone on this board that has experience with this type of software/program that can share their use/experience with me.

Hello All,

What you describe above is exactly what I need to do: get shipping numbers from the one vendor and send the customers updates. Our idea, after we get the shipping or tracking number from the vendor, is to use osCommerce email to the customer with the tracking number in the Comments box. We currently have average 40 orders per day, so this entire process needs to be automated. One idea is to use an XML script with order ID's from our osC order database to get the tracking numbers from the vendor. Then the question is the same as yours, how to update the customers.

Any ideas are very welcome!

Thanks,

Peter
