please suggest . install new osc rc2 or upgrade my ms2

hey guys i have recently switch host and they are running php5 and mysql 5 . my site build on osc 2.2-MS2 was running fine on php 4.4 . but after the upgrade i have had so many problems.. fixed few but still everyday i find something new is wrong.... i have installed more then 20 contributions to this site but my main mistake was i never applied any of the updates to it.

2 main problems im facing right now is

1) im not getting the paypal ipn and cuz of this its not showing which order actully completed the payment. i have to login to paypal and see if payment was received or not.

2) most of my images are broken..... even the small corner's on the left / right boxes..

 

ok the question i have is.. should i install a freh version of oscommerce-2.2rc2a and then reinstall all the contributions and just transfer the products and customers database to it.. ??

or should i follow the steps and start doing all the updates 1st) ms2 update-20060817.txt) 2nd) osc v2.2 RC1 Upgrade and then 3) osc v2.2 RC2 ...

 

which will be a better / solid option for me to do???

I too have a heavily modded store built on 20060817. After some fiddling I suspect it's easier to start at 2.2rc2a and build from there than update each contrib individually. Just 2 pennies to rub together.

I have been thinking the same thing. I have a site based on the same version, 20060817. It's not working anymore, too many problems. Site was moved to new server which has register_globals ON instead of OFF (needed for old version to work properly), PHP and MySQL were upgraded to newer versions. There aren't a lot of contributions, so I installed a new store with a fresh database, it's a 2.2 rc2a, and I can just reinstall (newest versions of) the contributions, but now I have some questions.

 

Are there a lot of changes to the database structure? Can I import the data from the old site or will that cause problems? There are a lot of products on the site - that's what I'm most worried about, is that I can't manually re-upload all the product images (there are HUNDREDS of them), descriptions and prices, and there is some content that will also need to be restored.

 

In other words, what can I bring over from the old site and how? What SHOULDN'T I bring over and how do accomplish what I'm trying to do?
