I am newbie on oscommerce. I would like to modify the index page (i.e. www.xxxx.com/index.php?cPath=22).

Your question is not very clear. If you want to change the URL there are several contributions that will do that for you.

 

Ultimate SEO URL'S will make it www.xxx.com/product-name-p-22.html

 

SEO-G will make it www.xxx.com/product-name.html
