Guest Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Hi, I have implemented the "table rate" to the shipping module because using Aus. Post and calculating postage by weight some clients were getting charged $18 instead of $5.90, just because it was inland Australia. I have put a table in that everything up to and including 500 grams is $5.90 and items 501 grams to 3 kilos is $9.90, over 3 kilos is $12.95 etc. The system is not charging postage of most orders. I am losing money at a rapid rate of knots. It is charging $5.90 on items weighing 10 grams which is okay , yet something weighing 480 grams was not charged $5.90 postage. One item weighing 578 gram, system did not charge $9.90 postage. I have altered all the products on the catalogue to grams to coincide with this change to table rate, but still this system is not working. Can you offer a solution please? Quote

If you are in Australia, why don't you use the Australian Shipping Module from the addins area. You will need your weights in kg. You need to kive an example of how you have set up your table rate,. You need to kive an example of how you have set up your table rate,. Thank you. At first I did have the products weights in kg and used the Australian Shipping Rate, BUT, it was charging $18.37 to send a $5.10 satchel (under 500gram parcel) to Alice Springs (central Australia), yet the same weight parcel to send locally $5.90. It was charging $34 to send to NZ instead of $14. People were getting upset at the rate charged for postage. Everyone knows that an item weighing under 500 grams is $5.10 for a parcel pack and everything 501grams up to 3kg is $9.10 and a box is $12.95 to NSW (local) and to Queensland same box is $16.95. SO, we thought it best to change the items to grams and use the table rate as such: 500gm:5.90;3.00:9.90; etc (we added a little for bubble wrap and brochures etc.). One item purchased weighed 10grams - the system charged $5.90 postage. One item was 480 grams, it did not charge the customer postage. One item was 890 grams - it did not charge the customer postage of $9.90. There is no rhymn or reason to it. Sometimes it charges postage sometimes it does not. Quote

Which aust shipping module version did you install? I have it set up, and a zones rate set up at the most expensive to send to, and the former is always less than the latter. Your table rate should not have gm in it, so for using gm 500:5.90,3000:9.90, etc note the comma seperator For kgs 0.5:5.90,3.00:9.90, etc note the comma seperator Edited March 11, 2008 by Coopco Quote
