iis there a way you can have selected items with one payment option and others with a different payment option?

i'm using print on demand type merchandise and some only accept credit card... where as others accept paypal (with this i know i can extract the paypal payments and use a credit card to pay for the items but paypal takes 5-7 workings days here which will slow down their order time considerably) >_<

 

i was hoping there was a simpler way of adding a contribution maybe that you can select when adding a category/product to which payment it accepts or anything similar?

 

or my other thought was that i'd setup 2 identical oscommerce installs on the one server and bounce certain categories to the other oscommerce install which only accept credit card... i know an effort but not really when you think about it... just add the links for the categories is easy... then add the right products to the right oscommerce install... :D

 

this is what i think will be effective for what i need if a contribution isn't available.. BUT any suggestions or feedback on this is really appreciated ;)

Can't think of a contribution that would let you do this as either you would have to restrict the customer to one type of product in their order or accept two or more payments per order.

 

By splitting the site you would stop the customer seeing your entire range.

 

Or would you force them to the checkout page for every purchase?

 

If so you could flag each product with the "acceptable" payment metod and only allow that method.

thanks for the reply... now thats food for thought!! i didnt think how it can effect the checkout area... because items from one install wont be able to mingle with items from the other and customers will look at it and think whats going on.... not a good message to send across... :blink:

not unless i have a credit card section and a paypal/credit card section.... bugger that makes things more messy then i thought... >_<

 

hrmm i'm not sure what to do there it sucks that some places ONLY accept credt card..or debit card (own money credit card) with the second card i can accept direct bank deposit which is a bonus but not really for international sales... i can go site wide with credit card or bank deposit and drop paypal...

 

BUT...

 

do you think this will effect my sales really badly?? <--- my thoughts would be yes but i'd like some feedback if anyone has some please?? :'(
