osC v2.2 snapshot 2002/12/03

linux, sendmail

'Tell a friend' works - all other e-mail functions do NOT work

Hi,

I'installed osC v2.2 and everything works fine with the exception of all kind of e-mails. The e-mail options are set to:

  • .

Since the 'tell a friend' function works, I can't understand where might be the fault. All 3 'e-mail addresses' in 'My Store' are set correctly (incl. 'send extra e-mail).

I don't receive the orders, do not receive the messages from the contact form and the customer doesn't get his confirmation mail for orders.

Any idea? I would be very pleased!

Regards

Juerg

Hi Pierre,

you're right, on the default page the right column is out of the visible area. I'm working on this. osC doesn't check the available screen to produce different tables (e.g. for the new products) with 1, 2 or 3 columns depending on the resolution. I absolutlely want to have my images in at least this size (width=175px). My aim is to present even the images in full 350px resolution, but for the moment my major problem is the e-mail-system.

It seems that nobody has any idea how to bring my mails to work? :(

Regards from Switzerland

Hi,

sorry, I had no time to search for this problem. None of the developers has contacted me and I'm just adding products and products and hope that none of the customer will forget his password ... :? . As soon as I'll find time, I'll search for the problem again. Please tell me, if you have found the mistake - thank you.

What host are you using?

I have experienced email problems with one host i use and i cant promise but it may be the same for you.

The host i use sets a filter in the sendmail function to make sure that the 1st or 5th variable of the 'mail' command is the 'from' value. They also require the ' -f ' parameter which not all PHP packages that use the 'mail' function use in the way my host seems to want.

This has caused me a load of headaches but i can now fix it (i think) by moving some of the variables around in the 'mail' commands.

It's possible that the 'tell a friend' function conforms to the requirements of your host and the other mail functions dont.?.

I'm not a developer or anything - this is just my experience. Hope it helps.
