Mellow Posted March 7, 2008 Posted March 7, 2008 I was changing hosts so I decided it would be better to get the latest version of OSCommerce since my previous install was several years old. The new host had an auto install program so I decided to use it and just import the appropriate database tables, css files, etc. and i would easily have a new cart with all my old info in it. Everything works on the cart great except -- I can't login to the admin interface. since the password is encrypted, I can't just edit it in the db table. I looked on my old cart tables and the old version does not include the table for 'administrator'. (I thought I could just copy and paste my old encrypted password there and I would be set.) I must have mistyped my intended password or something. I have tried every password that I use and can't seem to login. I know the username because I can read it in the administrator table. Is there a way for me to reset the password for the admin site without reinstalling the whole thing? I have searched the forums and the knowledgebase but can't seem to find any answers. Thanks for any help you can give me!!

Mellow Posted March 7, 2008 Author Posted March 7, 2008 Maybe this will help. http://www.oscommerce.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=291556 I thought this would really work. I created a new customer account and used the password I wanted, pasted the encrypted password into the administrator password table and it still would not let me login. ? Not sure why - this seemed promising as it worked for the guy in the other thread. Does the admin and customer encryption use the same salt or string padding. I found the file with the encryption code but don't know if there are two separate functions which could cause differences in the encryption.
