I have loaded this contribution and it seems to be working. However, I am just a bit worried about the site ranking. We have a top 10 on Yahoo UK for the single word "Crocs". I am worried that changing the URLs like this may damage our position.

Any advice!!

Sorry to be pushy guys. I have had a hunt round the forum again to see if I can find an answer with no luck. I have also checked the google webmaster forum. I really just need to know if I am bst to put the site back to the way it was?

Thanks

If you are referring to the cName & pName contribution, that will cause problems with existing links. If you are ranked well, the new links should re-rank within a few weeks but it could take longer. If possible, you should use Ultimate SEO or SEO-G since they both offer 301 redirects for existing links.

Thanks So much for getting back to me. I am on a Windows server and Ultimate SEO is not compatable as I understand it. Is SEO-G compatible with windows?

Am I best to put the site back the way it was quickly or will there be longer term benefits if I keep the cName & pName contribution?

Thanks

That contribution is your best choice for Windows, unless your host will install one of the rewriters made for Windows, which is unlikely. While the contribution may cause you a loss of position initially, it will help in the long run due to the better urls. If you are planning on staying on a Windows server, then I recommend to go ahead and use the contribution and work on improving your position again. If you plan on moving to a non-Windows server, which would be the best move, in my opinion, then I wouldn't use it since you can then use one of the other two I mentioned.
